Young Knox is a hip-hop fist stomping on the door of musical fame. Growing up in Los Angeles and being infatuated with hip-hop, this emcee has everybody convinced that he’s “The Next West” thing. With a laid back delivery and polished technique, Knox is continuing his rise to the top of the entertainment world. Writing his first hook at the age of 4 and turning in raps instead of normal homework assignments, he always knew what he was meant to do. Always focused on the prize, Young Knox is constantly in premier studios working with the industry’s biggest artists, which he’d rather not name.
His demeanor is relaxed and reserved; but his work ethic is off the charts. Recording on a daily basis, Knox has been able to produce a mix tape, The Warmup LP, downloaded over 175,000 times and is currently working on his first studio album, Opportunity Knox, as well as his next mix tape: School of Hard Knox. Learning from the successes and failures of others who came before him, he’s proven himself to be head and shoulders above the competition and never passes up an opportunity to showcase his undeniable talent. Being compared to others who simply talk about what they want to do, Knox confidently proclaims “We about our business!”
Whether you call him Knox or 9Milly (named after his favorite pistol), he is the lead artist of Aktivated Muzik Group/Hollow Tips: the Los Angeles music label that looks at its members as family above all else. Motivated by the hunger for more every day, he’s supported by the industry’s premier players. Keeping his eye on the prize, Knox knows that “Shit just begun.” But if asked about the future of his music and his artistic career, he proudly exclaims, “I’m here till the end, it’s tatted under my skin.”

Artist of the Week!!!

Names: Gairyd Fuller & Jason Vaughn
Born: Detroit, MI
Facebook: Science-Parkway
Twitter: scienceparkway
Website:http://seeheargroup.com/scienceparkway/index/

Chemistry is the scientific study of interaction between substances. When some substances combine, there’s a chance of decomposition or displacement, but when Gairyd and Jason combined BOOM! You’ve just witnessed combustion and the birth of Science Parkway.  Science Parkway, is the musical collaboration between vocalist/producer/writer Gairyd Fuller (Gee) and composer/writer/producer Jason Vaughn (JV).   Joining forces in high school, Gee and JV have been making music together in 2003, as they got in trouble together for listening to the parental advisory version of The Clipse CD.  Weeks later they were creating and experimenting with different types of sounds and found their niche in alternative music.  Born to a musical family where his father was the lead Bassist for the innovative group Zapp & Roger, Gee also found his passion in music. At the early age of 6 and after the death of his father, Gee started to sing and write music.  He perfected his craft through camps, workshops, and by listening to his mother’s music collection.  Today he continues to make music and is inspired by the sounds of Rivers Cuomo from Weezer and Patrick Stump from Fallout Boy.   Conditioned to love the arts from the womb, as his mother took piano lessons during her pregnancy, Jason was also born to a musical family. His father played bass and electric guitar and his mother, brother, and sister sang for different choirs. Introduced to the piano at two years old Jason became a phenomenal musician.  Inspired by Radiohead and Kanye West,  Jason has taken his childhood craft and transformed into his own with the goal to “reinvent music in a way that no one else has ever done it.”After being away for a year Science Parkway is “Back to Earth” bringing back an innovative, compelling and beguiling mix tape for eclectic ears now available to download. If placed in a genre they would be considered alternative but this dynamic duo brings a blend of punk, rock, electronica, r&b, emo, and new wave with a dash of Hip Hop on this critically acclaimed project. Along with the mix tape, two music videos for the songs Suicide and You Bitch have been released. They will also be performing in upcoming shows starring G.O.O.D. Music recording artist Big Sean. “I don’t want people to be content with labels. They should make what they want to make, live life the way they want to live and with no boundaries.” shares Gairyd Gee’ Fuller “This is what freedom sounds like.”

Name-Yancy Adams a.k.a. Yank-D
Age- 23 yrs. old
Born-Milwaukee. Raised in Mississippi
Facebook- Yank Deezy
Myspace- YankD

At the young age of 5 years old, Rapper Yank-D knew that rapping was something he was very interested in. It was 7th grade when Yank recorded his very first song  and from then on he took rapping more serious. Being told by the people who heard him, his lyrics were hott, Yank knew with out any he wanted this rap thing forever.  Rap artists like Gucci Mane, Lil Wayne, Young Dro, and Cassidy inspire Yank-D to push his self and get the success these dudes have if not more. With his mind set on grind mode Yank decided to start his own empire and started by getting his record label Kickdoe Click ENT. off the ground. He  signed his self and was the first artist on the label, like a BOSS, he is his boss.  He currently has 3 other artists that are apart of his camp and will soon be on the hunt for new artists to sign.  Yank hooked up with his current producer Froskee a.k.a Fro Freeze to create the dope tracks on his mix tape "Stunt Season". At the end of this interview I asked Yank-D if he had any words of wisdom for young people who aspire to get where he is and eventually where he is going.  His words were " Just stay true to yourself and never give up on your dreams. Stay focused and love what your doing."

First Featured Artist Of The Week!!!

David Reddix a.k.a.NiQ$Monie ( pronounced neek- moan - e)
Age:23 years old
Born:Long Beach,Ca.
twitter:freshdave
Youtube:Niqmonie
Myspace:Niqmonie

This unsigned rapper from Southern California grew up in a small gang infested city. Monie kept his self out of trouble by studying and rehearsing rap songs much more seriously than his friends. Sharpening his skills through lunchroom rap battles, he teamed up with his first rap group "The Date St. Dope Boys". After the group split in 2006, he became more focused on helping develop the talents of his little brother and friends from a high school clique they called Café (Cash and Fashion Everyday). The same year Café started a rap group with the same name. NiQ$Monies' lyrical content has shifted throughout his up-and-coming underground career, going from hardcore drug anthems to more thought provoking and motivational lyrics.  As Monie gets older he is realizing the tragedies of being involved in street life, and reminds the youth of the reality in the streets as well as the evil in politics today. After teaming up with 10Beats (from new r&b/pop group iSquare, and also a member of Café') Monie created several unreleased EPs, LPs and mix tapes. 10Beats energetic beats teamed with Monie's calm and intellectual flow creates great music, as seen on the intro track (Death Sentence) from his debut mix tape entitled "I Have a Nightmare".  Monie's flow comes off as nonchalant and at times sporadic even when he is going in full throttle.  He has complete control flow, which might be best described as controlled chaos.  Most recently, he has teamed with John Kunkel of "The New Division", an indie/electro/rock band out of Riverside, and is working on an EP  under the name "Team Spirit". NiQ$Monie is definitely not afraid to step outside of raps cliché boundaries, noting the fact that he grew up writing rhymes to Nirvana songs. A strong voice of opinion, an unbiased outlook on rap, a hood as well as suburban background gives NiQ$Monie a unique vision and it is portrayed through his music.
